It’s Abby’s birthday today, and we get up fairly early. We head over to the Vietnam embassy. The embassy is empty and we get served straight away. It costs US$60 for an on-the-spot visa. We would save only US$10 by waiting three days for the visa. Getting the visa today is good as we can leave Vientiane within a few days, giving us more time in other places in Laos.
