Delhi, the capital

of India, is a busy bustling city. There are few sights in Delhi, but your

time is perhaps better spent elsewhere. Agra , home of the Taj Mahal, is the next stop for many travelers.

Accommodation in Delhi

Paharganj

The Paharganj area

is where all the backpackers head. It is a dense, bustling main Bazaar, with a number of side streets. Accommodation is basic and cheap. Look elsewhere for some comfort or peace and quiet.

A lovely guest house away from the madness of the main bazaar. Has a green lawn, open-air courtyard and seven well-kept rooms. Can arrange airport pickup. US$48.

Transport

Trains

Delhi has several major railway stations. Agra, the first stop for many is only 2

hours away.

Delhi International Airport

Delhi’s international airport is small in comparison to other major cities. A taxi from Paraganj costs about INR250.

There is a visitors lounge, opposite the departures hall, where passengers are permitted to stay for up to 3 hours. The lounge costs INR30 and has comfortable chairs, televisions and basic drinks are available.

Once you get past the security check point and into the departure lounge there is very little in the way of services. There is a small stand selling basic drinks and potato crisps. There are no money changing services, so change your Rupees before checking in.
