Ko Pha Ngan is a small island of the coast of Thailand, primarily geared towards backpackers and tourists looking for a relaxed and quiet time. <\/p>\n
When the moon is full Hat Rin, on the southeastern tip, is invaded by thousands of visitors coming to soak up the sunshine and party atmosphere. At this time Accommodation around Hat Rin is rare to find, and overpriced. \u00a0Stay further afield and catch the local transport to the party.<\/p>\n
There are lots of \u00a0parties even when the moon isnt full. \u00a0There are twice-monthly half moon parties, and weekly other parties around the island. \u00a0Just keep your eye open for posters.<\/p>\n
Sun View Bungalows<\/span> As a westerner you’re likely to be approached by an accommodation tout on the ferry. \u00a0Using one can save you\u00a0effort and money on the islands, as the guest house\/hotel should pick you up from the ferry jetty. \u00a0Good touts have a number of brochers from a range of accommodation and budgets. \u00a0Make sure the tout puts you on the transport once you get off the ferry. \u00a0Songserm are a popular and reliable ferry operator with a fleet of buses to other destinations. \u00a0They have their own jetty with an office at the end at Thong Sala on Ko Pha Ngan.<\/p>\n Pickups regularly run around the islands roads, just hail one down and agree a price (about 50 Baht).<\/p>\n For exploring, scooters can be rented per day for 150Baht for a manual and 200Baht for an automatic, and are available a lots of places around the guest houses. \u00a0Jeep can also be rented from various places. \u00a0The roads are generally good, but watch out for loose sand on the road, and the occasionally mud track. \u00a0The road out towards\u00a0Hat Thong Nai Pan Yai on the north east coast is unsealed and care should be taken if riding a scooter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Ko Pha Ngan is a small island of the coast of Thailand, primarily geared towards backpackers and tourists looking for a relaxed and quiet time. 30 or so bungalows set on the edge of a small bay. \u00a0Most of the bungalows have sea and sunset views. \u00a0The basic bungalows are good and well built. \u00a0They have solid walls,\u00a0a balcony, hammock, fly screens, curtains, wall fan, power and a good bathroom. \u00a0The floorboards do have small gaps. \u00a0The more expensive bungalows are of solid construction and have AC. \u00a0The chilled and well stocked restaurant is staffed by ultra-friendly Thai’s, the food is good. \u00a0You can walk down to a small beach area which is good for snorkeling, and onto a larger sandy beach. \u00a0Ferry pickup available. \u00a0Scooter rental and Internet available just over the road, mini-mart and other restaurants a short walk away. \u00a0It’s a 20 minute walk to Sandy Bay\/Long Beach. \u00a0Prices from 300Baht.<\/p>\nGetting there<\/h2>\n
