I have booked my flights to India, with a return from Bangkok. I have also purchased travel insurance, local flights from my home town to London Heathrow airport, and accommodation before my long haul flight. With 2 weeks to go I am just about ready. I have 2 jabs on Monday, which finishes my course of vaccinations. I am waiting to hear back from a hotel in Delhi. I am getting excited.
Here’s a summary of my pre-departure costs
Although I never travel to any strict plan, I have put together a draft itinerary for my 2007 / 2008 Asia trip.
Today I received my visa for India. This is the only visa I am getting in advance, all others I will get either from consulates in neighbouring countries, or at border crossings.
I only have a few more jobs to do: book my flight, and have the remainder of my jabs. Oh, and sort out my malaria products.
Today I went to my doctors surgery and found out I need some serious immunisations, and they will cost me quite a lot.
After checking various websites I called the Indian consulate in the UK. Their phone numbers are always engaged. I checked a different website (www.indiavisaservice.com) offering visa applications, as the consulate no longer accepts postal applications for Visas. I rang this company, and they seemed professional. They said the visa would be issued in 5 days. I downloaded and filled out the forms. I quick stop at the post office and I was done. Now to work out where else to go…
